There won’t be a five-year anniversary to celebrate for our team. Yet the project brought to life by the German constructor Mario Kress made its mark in the history of truckracing during the four years of its existence. Each year on the starting grid brought something new and unforgettable.
Last testing session, last drives, the last chance to enjoy a ride. At least for this year. The traditional autumn testing was our way to say goodbye both to the past season and our four-year presence at the circuits within the European Truckracing Championship. As a result, the invitation was accepted by a number of guests and pilots.
Following a mutual agreement with Renault Trucks we have decided to leave truck racing as an active racing team. The MKR Technology team was happy to enjoy a great cooperation with Renault Trucks since 2010. Together we achieved the titles of European champion in 2010, vice-champion in 2011 and finally, champion again in 2012!
The FIA - International automobile federation published a draft version of the calendar for the new European Truckracing Championship season. It includes as many as twelve racing weekends, which means two extra events in contrast with the past year. However, it is still a mystery what the new calendar is actually going to look like. The autumn draft version tends to differ significantly from the actual schedule, both in terms of the number of races and their dates.
This year’s European Truckracing Championship is in the past now and the time has come to look back a little. What was it like for the duo of our pilots in terms of point gains, podium placing and individual success or failures?
The best truck racers of the past European Truckracing Championship’s season accepted awards for their performances. The FIA representatives presented them again, like in the two preceding years, directly at the French circuit of Le Mans. It has always been Jochen Hahn to accept the trophy there – and the situation was no different this year, as he completed the golden hattrick. Although a Czech team driver was missing from the winners‘ podium in the end, our team came to collect a bronze medal in the so called „Constructors“ trophy“.
The fight is over! The chequered flag was flapped one last time before the truck racers‘ eyes. This year’s European Championship title was seized again by Germany‘s Jochen Hahn, who has thus completed a golden hattrick. We had to wait until the last season’s race at the Le Mans circuit to have the name of the old-new champion confirmed.
Our wish came true! Last year’s double podium was repeated today at Le Mans. On the first day of the European Truck Racing Championship event at the famous circuit in France the top two steps on the ceremonial podium belonged to our drivers Markus Bösiger and Adam Lacko.
The time has come! This year’s truckracing season will come to its conclusion. Already this weekend the European Truckracing Championship is coming to its end with its final round. The truckers will meet again in France at the famous Le Mans circuit.
Adam Lacko has become the first Czech winner of the Spanish Truckracing Championship. For the first time in the history the triumph has been celebrated by a non-Spanish pilot. On top of that, our racer left behind the multiple champion and hot favourite of this year’s European Truckracing Championship series Antonio Albacete.
Today our Adam Lacko must have felt more like an aircraft pilot than a race truck driver. During the last day of the European Truck Racing weekend in Jarama he flew off the track in the championship race coming to rest on top of a tyre wall. In the handicap race he then had to overtake around twenty competitors during his flight towards the top eight positions. But the honour of the Czech colours were saved by our Markus Bosiger as he reached the podium.
