Adam was literarily flying in Jarama

7.10.2013

Adam was literarily flying in Jarama Today our Adam Lacko must have felt more like an aircraft pilot than a race truck driver. During the last day of the European Truck Racing weekend in Jarama he flew off the track in the championship race coming to rest on top of a tyre wall. In the handicap race he then had to overtake around twenty competitors during his flight towards the top eight positions. But the honour of the Czech colours were saved by our Markus Bosiger as he reached the podium.

Sunday‘s super pole was taken by the smallest of margins, just two thousandths of a second separated Norbert Kiss from Jochen Hahn. Kiss was unable to hold this advantage in the race as Hahn passed him for the win, third place belonged to home favourite Antonio Albacete. Just as Markus had received at the last event in Zolder, Antonio required agreement from every other competitor to race with another truck on Sunday. This was a result of his accident on Saturday that damaged his truck beyond repair, he would eventually compete with his team mate Markus Oestreich’s truck enabling him to continue fighting for the title. Our Adam Lacko was very unlucky when with three laps remaining in the championship race he left the track at high speed due to a steering problem, eventually coming to rest on top of a tyre wall. The truck was completely stuck meaning for him the race was over. „It was not like in Russia. Compared to that accident the impact was quite soft. My only worry was that if the truck didn’t stop I could have ended up on the highway which runs parallel to the circuit just the other side of the fence,“ smiled Adam who was not hurt at all but had to be extracted from his truck. His colleague Markus Bösiger crossed the line in fifth position.

The handicap race in the afternoon was led from start to finish by the youngest driver in the field, seventeen year old Benedek Major from Hungary. For the whole race he was followed by Rene Reinert in second and third position was fought for by our Markus. „Bösi“ was, this weekend, the only Czech representative to reach the podium. A great drive was again delivered by Adam. Our mechanics managed, in a very short break, to repair his truck and from the back of the grid he flew up to the points finishing in eighth place. In just the first lap he overtook twelve competitors! „Sunday was not really that good for me but the last race I really enjoyed,“ added Adam.
