Le Mans brings a double podium

13.10.2013

Le Mans brings a double podium Our wish came true! Last year’s double podium was repeated today at Le Mans. On the first day of the European Truck Racing Championship event at the famous circuit in France the top two steps on the ceremonial podium belonged to our drivers Markus Bösiger and Adam Lacko.

„In the end it was not a bad day all although we had a little difficulty in the wet conditions in the morning,“ smiled Adam.
It’s tradition that here in Le Mans at this time of the year it’s wet and cold and this year is no different but usually our trucks like these conditions. „In qualifying I posted a time good enough for fourth place but at the last minute I dropped to fifth when Jochen Hahn set his final time. Even so it’s better than sixth which has had a hold on me lately,“ said Adam.
Pole position was taken by Norbert Kiss but in the championship race he was beaten to the chequered flag by Jochen Hahn. From fourth on the grid Antonio Albacete passed Markus Oestreich for third place. Teammates Adam Lacko and Markus Bösiger drove more or less the whole race in fifth and sixth positions but on the last lap Adam unintentionally touched Markus. Not only was he able to then pass Markus but also David Vršecký followed Adam through. Markus finally crossed the line seventh. „At the exit of the previous corner I was faster and there was a place I thought I could overtake him but he didn’t see me and we touched each other slightly. Fortunately we explained to each other and were able to the smile about it, in handicap race we were able to make up for it,“ said Adam.
In the early evening the handicap race had to be started twice after an incident on the first lap of the initial race start. After the restart the lead was taken by Markus followed by Adam. They built a nice lead and headed towards the double podium. Third place was taken by David Vršecký so on the first day at Le Mans the podium belonged to North Bohemian drivers. „It‘s great. Le Mans always means a little bit more for every driver so when we took the first two positions it made the team very happy,“ commented Markus with satisfaction.
