What are the plans for the new truckracing season?

3.11.2013

What are the plans for the new truckracing season? The FIA - International automobile federation published a draft version of the calendar for the new European Truckracing Championship season. It includes as many as twelve racing weekends, which means two extra events in contrast with the past year. However, it is still a mystery what the new calendar is actually going to look like. The autumn draft version tends to differ significantly from the actual schedule, both in terms of the number of races and their dates.

The temporary calendar was discussed by the FIA committee in Paris last week. Following, it’s going to be presented to the World Motor Sport Council. Yet it is already quite uncertain whether the Russian Smolensk or Hungarian Hungaroring will be included in it. The temporary calendar is planning to bring the trucks first to Istanbul (Turkey), then to Misano (Italy), Navarra (Spain), Nogaro (France), followed by the Austrian Red Bull Ring with the first half being concluded at the Nürburgring. As of today, Smolensk is a matter of negotiation. If included, it would be followed by the home ground event in Most. The organizers are not clear about holding a race at the Hungaroring. As usual, the last three weekends would take the teams to Zolder (Belgium), Jarama (Spain) and the overall winner could celebrate the title at the famous Le Mans circuit. The season is about to start on the first weekend in May and finish in the middle of October.
