Adam is the first foreign pilot ever to win the Spanish Championship

Adam Lacko has become the first Czech winner of the Spanish Truckracing Championship. For the first time in the history the triumph has been celebrated by a non-Spanish pilot. On top of that, our racer left behind the multiple champion and hot favourite of this year’s European Truckracing Championship series Antonio Albacete.
‘It’s a huge success. Up to now no one has achieved a success like this. I’ve taken part in the Spanish Championship six times already and now, after five silver medals, I finally won. The title is even more pleasing when you realize that Antonio is heading for the European Championship’s title. Who can say they beat the European champion in a national contest?‘ gave us a wink Adam.
Truck races are a popular spectator-sport on the Iberian peninsula. ‘Atmosphere in Spain is definitely among the best you can get during the series. I love racing in Spain. People get really excited there, they support you, chant, enjoy taking pictures with you. I never give out so many autographs anywhere else,‘ described Adam, recollecting a group of fans who regularly come to Jarama and use the sound of chainsaw as a means of supporting the pilots. ‘Don’t worry, they’ve removed the chains. It’s just about the typical sound chainsaw makes. I can’t imagine the event without them. It all belongs to the show,‘ smiled Adam.
Spanish Championship is a series of eight races organized at the Navara and Jarama circuits this year. Apart from several of the European Championship’s pilots competing there, mainly Spanish drivers come to compete here. The starting grid in Spain is thus the most crowded one of all the series’ races. In the past few years the Championship didn’t know other winner than Antonio Albacete. However, this year the Spanish sweetheart was finally beaten.
