The machines have fallen silent and our technology centre is completely quiet now. The Dakar Rally is going to make the upcoming January extremely demanding, and so the end of the year has been reserved for some relax and recovery. This Christmas is truly going to be holidays of peace and quiet for us.
„The period of greatest stress is already over. Our technology is on its way and the material is ready. Of course, you are constantly thinking about whether you have not forgotten anything and what more you could do to catch up on things. January’s Dakar will be a whole new experience for us, so saying we are completely calm and cool would be rather daring, but the truth is that as a team we are ready and really have time to relax and recharge our batteries during the holidays,“ described the situation our team’s executive Klára Kress.
Currently, the mood in our centre reminds one of the notorious calm before the storm. In the past few weeks as the technology have sailed to the famous rally to Argentina we had our hands full with repairing trucks after the European Truckracing Championship. At the same time, our chief constructor Mario Kress was working with the engineers and mechanics’ team on the development of our Dakar technology. “However, starting this weekend until the end of the year we’re taking time off, the centre’s gate will be closed,“ confirmed Mario Kress.
Nevertheless, the entire team will meet up again this year, as the traditional, and popular, Christmas party has been planned for this weekend, where all the team members together with their better halves, will get together one more time this year. “At least we have the opportunity to say thank you for the hard work throughout the whole year. Without its team and the people on it MKR would not be where it is right now and we constantly need to remind ourselves of this. Everyone’s role is extremely important and I’m happy to be leading a pack like this,“ expressed Mario his gratitude.
Anyway, there are less than two weeks before the new racing circus starts. Some will even manage to celebrate the year’s end at home, but not all have been given the opportunity, as the transfer to Buenos Aires has been planned for the turn of the year. For instance, Daniel Kozlovský, member of the Artur Ardavichus‘ and Bonver Dakar Project’s crew, will board a flight one day before the New Year’s Eve. Others are leaving after the New Year’s Day. With the prologue event planned for Saturday, the renowned Dakar Rally has a sharp start on Sunday 4 January.
